Free Product Placement

Yesterday we discussed the product placement of Ford in the final episode of the Sopranos. Apparently, we were wrong to assume that Ford had paid for, or even given permission for the placement of its logo in the finale. According to a Detroit News article, Ford was just as shocked as anyone else to see how their brand was used. There seems to be some mixed thoughts – some believe that any product placement is good placement and others believe it’s not necessarily how the brand should be promoted. Why not continue to stir up debate about the issue and get a little more free press and recognition of Ford in the media? Either way it keeps Ford’s name out there, especially asToyota continues to soar.
